Can I bring my children to volunteer at Thanksgiving?
Absolutely. We make every effort to provide opportunities for families to serve together. However, due to safety concerns, children under the age of 18 are not able to serve in the kitchen.
We do not have the room or space to host the closet like we have in previous years. Also, Vision Ministries in Denton provides free clothing year round, and we don't want to hamper or duplicate the efforts of that ministry. Our desire is to build relationships and empower others through our community engagement events. We have made efforts to do this by changing the format of the meal so that families from The Village can come and sit down and have dinner together with members of our community. The clothing closet does not lend itself to this type of relationship building.
Yes, there is a large need for volunteers prior to Thanksgiving Day. When registering as a volunteer you can select the days and times you wish to volunteer.
If you desire further information and are unable to find it on this page, use our online contact form and select "Thanksgiving Banquet" from the category drop-down menu. An e-mail will be sent to the ministry leader who can answer your question(s). You may also contact DJ Hofmann, ministry assistant, at (972) 537-1255.
