The Missions Department serves the Church body by engaging, equipping and sending the Church to be ministers of reconciliation into the world. Ephesians 4: 11-12 states that the job of pastors and teachers is to equip the saints for the work of ministry, so our focus is on building up non-staff leaders within our local congregation and leadership outside of our congregation to do the ministry to which God has called them. The different groups we serve and support are:
The Missions Department staff serves those inside our local church body in a myriad of ways designed to engage, equip and send them to be ministers of reconciliation in their contexts. This can take the form of individual pastoring, classroom learning, "on the job" training and more.
Not only do we serve those who are in our local church body that "do life" in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex , but we also desire to engage, equip, and support the members of our covenant community that go out from this place to develop the Church throughout the world. Depending on where, how, and with whom our covenant members go out, we have in place several ways to support them including: prayer, consistent communication avenues, on the field resourcing, connection to home groups and potential financial assistance, just to name a few.
It is our hope that the Church universal is built up through our ministry. We realize that in order to do that we must partner together with other churches, church plants, networks and organizations. Similar to how we serve and support our covenant members who go out from The Village, our partnerships also take on many forms. This can range from a simple verbal agreement to work together and lift one another up in prayer to an official partnership with roles and expectations for both parties described, and everything in between.
Our prayer as a Mission Department and The Village is to lead a generation in the Mission of God to reconcile man and creation to a right relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus Christ. To do this well, the local church body (where ever she may be) needs to fully be who she is called to be through the gospel of Christ. If you are reading this and you are a covenant member or regular attendee of The Village, know that we love you and look forward to shepherding you as you do the work of ministry to which you have been created. If you are a pastor, church planter, or a part of a parachurch or similar organization, know that we are humbled to walk along side of you for the sake of the gospel.
If you wish to partner with The Village please check out our Planting Partnership section of this Web site.
